Desk With Open Hutch And 2 Drawer

I just got an acer aspire laptop and the disc drive won’t open. There’s an eject looking button on the top of the keyboard that i assume opens it but when i press the button, nothing happens. Anyone know what to do?

I am trying to get at the motherboard of a Compaq 1240 Laptop. I dont want to break it, so i will ask someone who knows what they are doing. I have a big computer toolkit. Trying to upgrade the Pentium 2 Processor to something better.
